Still working

So I'm up at 2:44am because tonight has been a busy night of work. May 30th was a busy day for our family to begin with. We had a 1st birthday party to attend, and it was my dad's birthday. Sean did not want to nap before the 1st bday party, so at the party he was fast asleep in Paul's arms. He slept on a blanket outside on the grass with all the kids running around him. He even transferred to the car and slept in the car for another 45 min or so. He must have been pretty darn tired. It turned out to be a very nice day for a party outside. They even had a huge bounce house for the kids. Derek had a blast.

After the party we went to my parent's house for dinner. Unfortunately, as soon as we got to my parent's house I got a phone call to go to work. I did get to see my dad and get a bite to eat before leaving (thanks mom for the delicious steak) Since then I haven't really been home, I am so hoping I get to sleep tomorrow. At least there is only one more night of work then I'm off for a week.

Scleats....

These are them. Derek's "scleats" as he likes to call them. Notice they aren't real cleats, just overlays for shoes that are supposed to help with ice. Paul bought them, but forgot to look at the size. I don't think they will be fitting on Paul's shoes anytime soon. If I let Derek, he would wear them everywhere. However, I do not want my wood floors damaged, or mud all over the house. So he is happy to wear them any time he is outside. Needless to say he ALWAYS wants to walk the dog. Hopefully he'll keep that attitude for the next 15 years. I have such good helpers!

Just the beginning

So today is the day that I start blogging. I used to journal...ALOT. That hasn't been happening for the last few years, and I would like to one day give Derek and Sean my memories of their childhood, so I started a blog. It goes by so fast, I can't believe that Derek is almost 4 and Sean is already 2. Today has been a low key day. I work this week (I'm an oncall nurse for a home hospice) and I try not to plan anything on those weeks. So we went to the gym this morning, Target for lunch, and now Sean is napping and Derek is on the computer. We are in the midst of potty training Sean which has had it's ups and downs. One day with no accidents and I think that he is getting it and the next day we go through 4 pairs of pants. Today so far has been a good day. If only I would have listened to him at Target, then we would have been accident free.

Derek is done with his first year of preschool. He has come a long way since Sept. I wish that he would continue with things with me, but he gets very defensive and doesn't even want to try with me. For instance, we are doing a summer letter exchange with my mommies group. We have been part of the group since Derek was a year old. He knows some of these kids very well. We painted a picture of an alligator this afternoon and I was trying to get him to write his name. He can only do the D and the e, but he refused to even hold the marker for me. At school he was doing it on a daily basis. Oh well, we'll try again tomorrow.

Sean of course has to do everything that Derek does so I have also included him in the letter exchange. He painted a picture of a duck that we got off the computer. He loves to write and draw. That kid is so funny. Lately he has taken to carrying around a plastic baseball bat like a guitar and singing with it. He will go around the house for a good 40 min with the bat "playing guitar" Yesterday before bath he was in front of a full length mirror watching himself sing. It was pretty funny.

My hope is to blog on a close to daily basis with the random things my kids are up to. It will probably be less frequent on the weeks that I work. But I will try.
